A Tuesday 20 after work tonight. I'm going to cut back on the byways etc in the dark on my own . A fall and breaking something in the middle of nowhere doesn't bear thinking about . Bloody windy tonight, but mild still.
I’ve just fitted my exposure light to see where I’m headed as well as the Raveman light that I use for people to see me. Depending on what time I get away I will take the longer gravel route home.
although it's fun, and I often prefer the dark because of no traffic, this is a sensible approach for sure. The complete break and disjoint of my fibula this May has changed everything, and I was almost stationary when it happened! I possibly won't get back to where I was before this now, as still healing with all sorts of side-effects.
and so what did I go and do?... I had forgotten how much fun that was, what a totally surreal journey, I did a 10 mile gyro on the non-powered mountain bike, listening to tapestry by C.K. and then blue by J.M. it's been over three decades since I've listened to either, but it was perfect as I sailed along passing literally hundreds of queueing cars due to the A3/M25 fiasco. A real piece of luck as right ankle/right knee/right hip/neck/heart all behaved during ride despite no medication today. Not so shoulders and left elbow but you can't have everything.
For the November Pancreatic challenge I set out to ride 212 miles, I rode 277.73 miles. I hoped to raise £212 my friends and family donated £286. Thanks to everyone who donated or encouraged me. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Steven1760179096316?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL
Yesterday I jumped on the turbo and bashed out 10 miles, it was a drag. Today i was still not really feeling it, but my mood improved as I got further into the ride. Obligatory Tisbury station photo. Popped into see Dave, my cycling buddy who died a few weeks ago aged just 66 at our village cemetery, which hardly cheered me up, but glad I did. This week I’ve only cycled 30.21 miles, excluding when we were on a skiing holiday it’s one of my lowest.
A very wet ride yesterday from a bike fit shop near Bromley. A great route of 27 miles with only 8 on tarmac . It was a bit of a slop fest at times but would be great on a early spring morning.
I’m reading a book about the GWR Swindon Works atm which contains this picture. Swindon Works Cycling Club 1907. No Lycra or gels here! Just cloth caps and lard sandwiches
and would prefer to wear one of those caps to half the "helmets" i see cyclists wearing today - i.e. - this isn't saying a lot safety-wise!

Do spin classes still do all the push ups on the bars and other associated nonsense? I tried a few different classes but found them as unbearable as being in the turbo dungeon. I admire your ability to stay the distance.
The classes I attend vary a little depending on the instructor on the day. There's some popping up and down (up for 4, down for 4) as well as the sprint/climb tracks. I'm not interested in adding weights or press ups to the class, I do plenty of that in gym. The classes are though, but you do feel very gladiatorial when they're finished. I come out of the cave and want to kick over a bin, drink ale from curved horns and mount the first lady that foolishly crosses my path....Maybe that's just me...
You and me both, haven’t ridden on the roads since Nov 30th. I might be cycling to work this week, but it’s not far. New cycling snacks
