Clutch Feels Different 1200 Dvt

  1. My 2018 1200s has always been great, 13,000 miles, not missed a beat.
I thought the clutch lever felt different, slightly stiffer at first but seemed to settle down.
I have short levers so perhaps this made it more obvious I'm not sure, the fluid looks fine, the clutch operates as before, it just feels different, no slipping, just odd.
Is this a sign that something is wearing or needs replacing.
I'm no mechanic so any help is useful.

  2. When you go to the doctor, tell him you just feel a bit odd. Then ask for a diagnosis.

  3. Odd in what way?

    Notchy, grabby, heavier/lighter?

Is it different since you changed levers?

  4. Heavier, The levers are years old, a bit more effort needed but it seems fine after a while, someone suggested the fluid has picked up moisture, it was changed a year ago as part of a service, fluid levels are right and it looks clean, it still rides ok.

  5. Have you he the slave off and checked the piston, seals etc?

    Fairly straightforward job.

  6. Like I said I'm no mechanic, I'll get someone to look at though, thanks for the advice.

  7. Thanks mate, some good practical advice, just what I wanted.

  8. Do you ever clean and lube the lever pivots? Can make a difference.

  9. Dunno if it helps, but if I haven't ridden in a while my clutch always seems stiff at first. It's genuinely due to a loss of grip strength. :astonished:

  10. Never crossed my mind, that may well be a factor, thanks.
