Finished off my Xmas shopping including my nieces first GBOR so I have something to read on the day Guys still in there
A visit to the dental hygienist this morning and now just kicking my heels until 2pm when I’m returning for the 2nd of 4 planned fillings. Unplanned, was breaking yet another (previously filled) tooth which will require a crown this time. As I don’t have £800 stuffed down the back of the sofa, it’ll have to wait until next year now. Needed to buy a Birthday card, so went to WWT Slimbridge. Saw many birds there - lots of pigeons and crows and one Swan. But had a really nice meal and couple of Lattes. The staff are really nice and save me from carrying anything to my table, You drive through the village of Slimbridge and they are mega-hot on speeding in the 30. These twitchers are yobs, evidently!
I shelled out big-time to replace the fence around my house and the cemetery. It is all concrete posts and footings, with wood panels slid in between. Wasn't cheap but it should last my lifetime. The previous one, that was just crappy wood had lasted 35 years and that was shit-quality put in by the builders when the houses were built in 1989/90.
Went out for a ride organised by the local TRF and it was a bit of a frustrating one tbh as two of the guys were nervy and slow. Tracks that I would normally ride at 20-30mph, they were doing at 7mph, which is quite literally pedestrian, but overtaking/moving up a position in the order is kind of frowned upon. They even wanted to cut the ride short at lunch because it was a “bit slippery”, which is a kind of like a boxer not wanting to fight because it’s a bit “getting punched in the facey”. I prefer the weekend rides as it’s a younger demographic, whereas midweek rides tend to be attended by old fuckers. I suppose that also includes me, but in my head I’m still 19!
