St4s Guidance

  1. At 13500 miles, most certainly the chain but if the sprockets are OE steel, depends on how many miles the bike did on a chain that needed replacing. Definitely a bargaining point. Andy

  2. I had an ST4 and it was a great bike. Let a friend have it at 50,000 miles and always fancied another.

Can anyone explain to me why Ducati don’t make a V4 version of this now? It would be so easy to do and there’s definitely a market for them.

  3. Thanks, sounds like they are well respected and reasonably reliable, I just wish they made a V2 and V4 ST.

I suspect that the rise of the ADV bikes mean that Ducati will never return to the Sport Tourer market as they must believe that is serving the need for touring bikes.

I just looked at the Ducati homepage and couldn't find the Supersport there, I wonder if that is quietly being put out to pasture and that was the nearest thing they had to a sport tourer (but still with an awful pillion seat).

  4. Honda has also discontinued the VFR800, which was the main bike in this segment.
The touring segment is now left to the adventure bikes.
Even if you look at BMW, who were the kings of the tourers, you don't really have any touring offerings anymore. The GS is the best seller and the rest are variants of the GS, naked, sport, or some cruiser type bikes.
