950 Low Seat

  1. I’m looking at getting the low seat as my legs aren’t quite long enough :joy:
I know it’s only 12 mm lower but does it make a difference, maybe it’s narrower too?
    Cheers. Paul.

  2. Is narrower too, but is hard as stone

  3. Mine is perfect :grinning:

  4. Give it time, it will break in.

The lowering kit is better than the low seat imho.

  5. I got one cheap on eBay from Ducati Manchester group, but when I tried it on my bike it wouldn’t lock down. Comparing it to my standard seat the locking pin was shorter so I thought it might be a defect. I sent it back and they sent me a replacement. That had the same problem, but it fitted ok on a bike in their show-room. In the end I took I down to my local Ducati dealer and tried it on a bike there (it fitted ok) and compared the seat catch mechanism on their bike back to back with my bike.

On investigation my bike had two washers added to the locking seat catch mechanism which was just enough to prevent the pin from locating and locking. I bought my bike new so they must’ve been added during production … probably as a bodge because without them the standard seat locks down but moves around a little bit.

it is good to know that Audi have not yet quite managed to remove all the last traces of good-old-fashioned Italian engineering from the brand ;-)

How’s the low seat? It makes a small but significant difference enabling me to get the full ball of one foot down rather than just my toes. It is noticeably harder though.

I’m having the Ducati lowering kit installed as well so depending on how much difference that makes, maybe I will revert back to the standard seat.

  6. @Dave, hopefully not an issue for you but my girlfriend had the reduced height suspension kit fitted to her Monster 937 and on a soft suspension, the lowered side stand is too long. She sat on the bike with the side stand down and as the suspension compressed, the bike sat up and threw her off the bike the other side. I ended up cutting 25mm out of the side stand. Andy

  7. Will that alter the front rake angle?( the lowering kit not the side stand)

  8. The lowering kit comes with a lower side stand. I had mine fitted at new and it makes a bigger difference than the lower seat.
I sat on a bike with the Rally seat recently and that seemed about the same height as mine as its narrower than the single seat design.

  9. Lowers both front and back suspension.

  10. Have amended my post, it was the lowered side stand that was actually only about 5mm shorter. Andy

  11. Is the lowering kit expensive?

  12. The kit is just under £340 but budget between 2 to 3 hours for fitting, say £700 ish all in fitted at dealer labour rates. Andy

  13. Thanks Andy, I did not realise a kit was available and had been looking at moving from 1260 ms to Diavel to lower the seat height - on test riding the 950 ms I felt I missed the ooomph of the 1260 and whilst it was lighter the 950 on standard suspension with a low seat was not as low as my 1260 with a low seat. Not sure how that works but I prefer the performance of the Diavel and the seating was great for me.

  14. The Diavel is a brilliant bike. Carole tracked hers under the tuition of Andrew Pitt at Cartagena and he was well impressed. Andy
