  11. It turned out I was actually only second worst! Very much out of my depth tbh, as most of the other guys were clubman racers. I ended up absolutely exhausted. I slid down a steep and very muddy hill in the woods, got comprehensively entangled in a load of brambles near the bottom and even when I got myself and the bike free, which wasn’t easy as it was like ice skating on a 45 degree slope, the right handlebar got jammed in a small tree, which meant I could neither get up, down or across the slope. Eventually after at least 20 minutes of wrestling with the damn thing until my limbs were like jelly and I was drenched in sweat, I had to be rescued by one of the instructors, and even he had problems getting the bike out of what was effectively self-inflicted checkmate.

Absolutely knackered, covered in scratches, I’ve wrenched my neck and my dodgy shoulder is murdering me, but I’m grinning from ear to ear.

The only downtick was that once again, Iggy took a shit in the van (thankfully this time it wasn’t liquid though).

  16. Just had a fantastic dinner. Looking forward to a lazy days tomorrow, we’ve got some nice walks with the dog planned while we’re here, before going home on Monday.

Thanks for all the nice comments, folks. There were times when I didn’t think I’d get this far.

  18. Hope you’re having a great birthday weekend.

That walk with the dog should help digest that lot.
