Reuben had raw sprouts when I was prepping the lunch on Christmas day, no more flatulence than normal... He loves his veg; broccoli, carrots, green beans, asparagus ends etc. All raw off-cuts from food prep and then any cooked left-overs.
Sheesh - we used to feed old Nobbly Nelson a good deal of raw, beef heart, tripe etc, but the merest hint of veg would have him gassing like a good 'un. It always used to tickle me that when he did he would look at his rear end in a mixture of bewilderment, indignation & disbelief that such a thing could occur. The closest thing to veg he ate was self administered grass.
Our spaniel Bailey managed to take nearly a complete boiled cake off the kitchen table today and then finished off with a bread roll,we're awaiting the results.
Did it have raisins or sultanas in it? They’re highly toxic for dogs and can cause renal failure. Apologies if this is teaching granny to suck eggs, but thought I should mention it.
Tbh, given that for all but the last half a dozen decades of the 40,000 years of domestic dogs’ evolution they existed on our leftovers, I’m astonished that they have developed into such fussy eaters. Onions, garlic, chives, grapes, raisins, chocolate, chewing gum, coffee, cooked bones, raw potatoes/tomatoes are all toxic to a greater or lesser degree.
Same could be said of the homo sapiens, can't imagine there were many food allergies when all that was for tea was 'shit with sugar on top'...
Now if you want to debate this.... here's our 1980s boy 'Tom'. Was he Black &White? ....... or was he White &Black ?
Fortunately ,Bailey seems fine no reaction up to now ,the vet said he appears to be o.k willbe watching closely for a couple of days.I never even got to try the cake!
