Re-programmed the panigale blipper. Too much push from the engine while hard downshifting. Seems OK on the dyno now so let's see what it's like on the back straight at Almería
Topped up the fuel tanks of both Scramblers, the 937 Monster and the V4 Pikes Peak yesterday. Going to venture in to the garage now to fire them all up and give the engines a heat cycle. The Pikes Peak is due an annual service in February and I definitely need to get out on it. Fortunately we had several hours of torrential rain last night so all the salt has been washed off the local roads. Andy
Can you try and waft that rain the short distance down to us please Andy. We were frosted up again this morning here on the South Downs, and the roads are still White with Salt not Ice.
Just gone out to my garage and the pavements and dropped kerb outside my house are dotted with hard, frozen puddles so obviously gone from about 6° at around midnight to clearly subzero a few hours later. I’ll not be riding today. However, all the bikes have been started, run up to temperature, allowed to soak and (for the 2 water cooled bikes) run again until the fans kicked in. The air cooled engines got a double soak, just for good measure. Both the Pikes Peak and the 937 Monster have LiFePO batteries fitted, the Pikes Peak fired without an issue but the Monster struggled, even having gone through my Lipo cold weather “wake up” routine. Once the engine fired and ran for 10 minutes, there were no issues starting again. Might be time to look at a replacement Andy
Carefully climbed over them to get to a power socket to turn it off That's the most i have done for the last 7 weeks
If you have power then I highly recommend a baby monitor. Dirt cheap (and you may well know someone with one sat in a cupboard you can get for free) and sensitive enough that no one is getting in without you knowing. The fox occasionally sets ours off as it goes over the roof but not a major problem. Obviously only useful if you are in, but so are the alert mines. Sad that we have to go these extremes to keep stuff safe from these scumbags.
Fitted an aluminium number plate to the Honda because im fed up of the exhaust melting the plastic one. Also fixed the fuel leak I created by tinkering with the Nsr!
Had to get up early as the alarm on the gixxer 750 was attempting to sound off, basically telling me that the battery was low, ended up climbing over the same thing that I hurt my knee on last week, so I could remove the seat and stick a battery charger on it, as soon as I connected the charger, the alarm went full volume (in a concealed space), with the stupid fob buried in my pocket
Replaced the top box attachment on the Rally and put an extra large Ducati aftermarket one in its place. Looks nice and my tail pack won't sag; HUSSAR! Tried not to look at my Son's Husky 250 which is on a stand and spilling its electronic guts due to a persistent, untraceable, REALLY FUCKIN ANNOYING PROBLEM!
Three bikes all due insurance renewal in the next couple of weeks. Honda Fx650 is £39 fully comp, the cheapest quote I’ve ever had on a bike. The Nsr250 wasn’t far behind at £43 fully comp!
I can beat that. My DT175 cost minus £12 to insure last year because when I added it to my multi bike policy they gave me a refund of that amount.
Both with Express insurance, I’ve used them in the past but never made a claim so can’t say how good they are when needed. I just check the comparison sites every renewal for the lowest price.
