This. I mean he took a hard punch and it broke his jaw so you imagine how tough this other proper heavyweights are , when they receive several hard blows to the head / body . Same for the other classes , it amazing what they can take until they go down. Brutal sport .
I've always liked the cut of Fury's jib, both in the ring and out. But this is starting to get silly. As someone said somewhere online he's had more retirements (5) than title defences (4).... And as for AJ I'm not sure his reputation was in anyway enhanced after his bout with JP (or with Dubois). But all of that is by the by because we all know it will be a big money spinner and if the truth be known we're all interested to see the fight/result...
All true. The fight game is always about making money. The Jake Paul series proved that beyond any doubt. In the olden days it was all about rigging the fights and scooping the gamblers bets. AJ took Jake apart for the cash, and to be fair why wouldn't he? Sure it made world boxing look more like the WWE crossed with Mickey Mouse, but for a £40 million purse...
This fight is going to be 5 years too late. I’ve lost a chunk of interest in it. FWIW I think Fury has the style to defeat Joshua. But if AJ manages to clock him one…
True, but when boxers finally hang up their gloves I suspect it's their legacy & reputation they look back on rather than their bank balance.
Exactly Yep he has that all angles confuse 'em style but perhaps not the power a la Dubois. I suspect AJ will need him to stay still for at least a couple of seconds to be able to clock him... and as fine as that JP punch was he was stationary in the corner almost waiting for it. Yep it broke his jaw but it didn't knock him out.
I don't think some of them care at all about "Legacy". Mike Tyson said "I think that's another word for ego. Legacy doesn't mean nothing. That's just some word everybody grabbed on to." I don't believe all of them can think too well either... Besides its all very easy for them to say it was the fights that were important, whilst lying on a sunbed, at their island getaway home, being fed grapes by nubile women, and not mention the cash. In fact I'd say that if you asked any of them whether they would swap their riches for lasting fame you would be laughed out the door.
I think the reason it broke his jaw rather than knocked him out was that he had his mouth open. If he’d been biting down on his gum shield then the shock of the punch would have been transferred into his skull
