  2. I have an old one hanging in the garage, which could come in doors but It maybe frowned upon by my 21 year old daughter, I doubt the wife would care.
I did have a ticking off and a post removed by admin because of a garage pic in a thread where the calendar was in the background, madness if you ask me .......

  3. Back in April last year, the wife fell over in the back garden and broke her wrist, needed surgery to repair, which included fitting metal plates, she was told that the metal plates would need to get removed at some point....

That point was yesterday afternoon, she ended up staying in for the night, my son and I collected her this morning

One of the nurses took the piss:sob::joy::joy::joy:

  15. I had the call up for Jury Duty about 25yrs ago.

The letter arrived whilst I was on Garden leave from one job, and would have been to take place about 3 weeks into my new job.
I contacted the company I was going to work for who I got the impression weren’t very impressed.

They asked me if I wanted to do it, to show willing and impress I said that obviously it was a really bad time as I would be trying to get into my new job, and there were training courses already booked for me. They said they would write on my behalf, and explain the situation to see if it could be postponed.

I had confirmation the requirement for me to attend had been cancelled, but I should expect a recall.
I’ve never been recalled, and have felt a little guilty ever since that I didn’t ‘do my duty’.

In the Meantime I know somebody who’s done it twice in the last 20yrs.

  16. Sat with an ice pack on my swollen knee
Put it out playing squash last week and ignored it.
Yesterdays game was a game too far.

  17. Never done jury duty but a few years ago I was called to take the stand as a witness in a serious road accident. That was an interesting and slightly intimidating experience.

  18. Oh yes, I was called as an expert witness in 2 different counterfeit trials to demonstrate why the packaging on some counterfeit product wasn't correct.

I really felt like it was me and my expertise that was on trial.
    Hated every minute of it.

  19. I've done jury service about 30 years ago.

Sent home by 10 am most days, I lucked out on a juicy murder trial that went on for while. The case I sat in on was drugs.

It's difficult to stay awake in a court room TBH.

I learnt that coppers don't need to fill in their notebooks anytime near the offence, in this case they waited 6 months.
Possibly to ensure that the narrative wasn't compromised......
The defence barrister was very unconvincing.
The only person worth listening to was the judge, especially in his summing up and his explanation of the meaning of being in possession with an intent to supply.

I was fairly compensated for my time as I was between contracts so was a money maker for me.

I am after my experience convinced that juries should in certain trials be well educated but I guess that would be frowned upon.
Not saying my co jurors were thick as mince but it took them a while to figure simple stuff out, especially when one of them asked in the jury room if a cannabis user smoked a 9 bar in one spliff.

Difficult to get a unanimous decision, ended up as a majority decision 10-2.

  20. Went out lunchtime for a bit of fresh air (at the office) waltzed over to Fowlers to order some spares....

    1. Spares counter closed down.
    2. There goes my fucking 20% discount.

Bugger....thats a big downside (99% of my time at Fowlers was being able to walk through the door and walk away with spares) most of the time..phoned in, (as theres a click and collect service) spoke to a woman on the end of the phone - who was nice enough but didnt seem that worried about helping....

Hope they reconsider but i doubt it...the personal service was great...gonna miss the lads...always used to have a good chat with them...!
