So what have you done today..?

  1. Had to get up early as the alarm on the gixxer 750 was attempting to sound off, basically telling me that the battery was low, ended up climbing over the same thing that I hurt my knee on last week, so I could remove the seat and stick a battery charger on it, as soon as I connected the charger, the alarm went full volume (in a concealed space), with the stupid fob buried in my pocket

  2. I ignored a twinge in my hip on the squash court too..then played through it in December... Same thing happened, was almost incapacitated. I made a balance board (with the cork roller underneath) and did stretches on it every day..the speed of recuperation was really something. I think the need to hold balance whilst in a stretch really helps as the nerves, tendons and muscles are going from active to passive constantly. Maybe worth a try?

  3. Thanks that’s an Interesting idea.
just googled home made balance boards, seem simple enough
The problem I have is the tight knee. After I twinged it again yesterday it swelled around the knee cap, I had and still am experiencing pain climbing the stairs or with sudden movement. I currently have a support on it, I’ll look at exercises next.
Sadly I think squash is out of the window for the time being.

  8. As you age particularly above 60 you have either your mind going or your body............... This might be the way your body is telling your mind to back the fck up.

  9. Had a job interview this morning that mainly entailed them asking me what’s the least I’ll take by way of salary ecxpectations, me telling them and them asking if I’ll take even less.
    Deep sigh.

  10. Yup, been there, done that, declined the offer, fuggem.

  11. I’ve found the ice pack liners from the camper van chilly bin work well, malleable and pea friendly
I’d post a photo but it isn’t working this morning?

  12. Quite possibly but to give in would be a great loss to me. I’ve been playing on and off for years occasionally mixing it in with badminton.
I find the weight machines and treadmills at the gym mind numbing, even with headphones in listening to my favourite ballads of Sheena Easton, I get bored and impatient
I’ll get back in the saddle once the swelling and pain have subsided, although at this great age progress can be a tad slower.

  13. Yeah, I started badminton too last September, still play squash once a week, but add two sesssions of badminton...it's a LOT kinder on the body. ;)

I'm finding I can play badminton to a good level straight away, which is a real bonus! :D

  18. I've not been following the story as we're being gaslit by the folk in charge. We need a immediate reset button for this country, Europe or just open the seacocks and move out.!
#I was gonna start a new thread; what're your heroes / influencers or non-fork tongued folk for 2025.

  19. You still could for 2026!

It might be a very short thread?

  20. Had my hospital appointment, what a complete fuck around that was

Arrived at 12:00 for a 12:20 appointment, at 12:15, nurse announces that there is a 30 minute delay, no problem i thinks, 25 minutes after my appointment time, my name gets called, oh, did nobody tell you, you need an xray today

Was told that out patients xray room was not working, so, I had to go to main xray, queued to book in, got booked in, sat there nearly half an hour, was told i should be at out patients xray, I told him I was told to go to main, he said I could either go back to out patients or wait at main, but there may be a delay, the previous person he told to return to out patients then arrived back at main for her xrays

A few minutes later, a nurse came along and shouted out some names, asked me my name, she checked the system, then took some of us back to out patients :triumph:

Had xrays taken, nurse asked me to put my elbow in some specific positions, politely told her it wasn't happening :joy:

Eventually got around to seeing the consultant, next appointment is in 3 weeks, physio starts on Friday

On a couple of positive notes, the brace is now off, so I can start to try and move my elbow and wrist, and the other is, I can now get my jacket on properly :joy:
