Hi All, fairly recently i sold a kitchen item ( a blender) on ebay, it was posted on 2nd September and the tracking history shows it was delivered to the buyer on 4th September. The buyer is saying that she has not received it and has opened a case with ebay, i should add that i used the postage label provided by Ebay...has anyone had a similar experience and if so how was it resolved, i have a feeling the buyer is trying it on, where do i stand?...TIA.
If you used ebays postage label your covered. Give them a ring...they should sort it out there and then...
Does the tracking detail show a pic of the item being delivered to a person or to a doorstep? A big issue with the 'knock and run' policy recently adopted many couriers, is it's open to abuse by the buyer claiming to not received the item, or 'porch pirates' nicking the item from doorsteps, thus leaving the buyer, seller and platform provider to sort it out. IME ebay customer services are fairly helpful, although often bias toward the buyer.
Thanks...tracking details do not show a pic of it being dropped off, all it says is it was left in a secure porch at a precise time, also does anyone have a phone number i can use to contact Ebay customer services?, i cant seem to find a number on their site.
When I've had ebay issues I've found it best to follow the dispute process first. If a resolution cannot be found the case is automatically escalated to customer services to resolve. Have you responded to the buyer with the tracking and delivery info showing the image of the parcel delivery? Last time I had to actually talk to an agent, I had to start with the bot.
If you start a conversation with the automated help function but keep typing in ‘please call me’ regardless of what the bot replies with, eventually it will bring up the option for a customer services agent to call you directly on the telephone number you have registered with eBay. I’ve generally found the agents very helpful and balanced in their approach.
I think you will be OK as the shipping company has confirmed delivery, and eBay have a mandatory fee charged to all buyers which is a protection/ insurance.
Thanks for all the replies...the buyer was beginning to be a PITA, sending me messages saying it was my responsibility to reimburse her for non delivery, i reported her to Ebay and they sided with me and closed her case without a refund...Result!
This is often the case with low value items. It still begs the question, was the buyer being honest, or does she now has a free food blender.
No she doesn't have a free Blender, she paid me for it, but then, after 5 weeks, she claimed that it hadnt arrived even though the tracking history confirmed delivery at her address, and pestered me for a refund!, either thick as pigshit or just trying it on...anyway now sorted.
Oh course I hope that you are right and the lady disappears from your life. Your post did make me curious what the legal position is and -regardless of what eBay have decided- you are on a losing wicket should the lady pursue this. Read this & weep https://www.bljsolicitors.co.uk/blog/rights-when-online-orders-get-lost-or-dont-arrive/ A few months ago, eBay started a new mandatory shipping service for all sellers, bought through them, called "Simple Delivery". Looking at their sales pages today, the choices have reverted to offer "Simple Delivery" or "Custom options" where the seller makes their own arrangements. I wonder if this is a result of the mandatory shipping making them liable for non delivered items as instead of the sellers -due to it being mandatory? Anyhow, again fingers crossed!
Click https://www.ebay.com/sch/ebayadvsearch?_sofindtype=0&_byseller=1#byseller Scroll down to the sellers section "include" box & click it, then select "exclude" then enter the seller username(s). Then hit the blue search button at the bottom of the page. Bookmark or save the resulting search and use that as a starting point to continue to exclude those sellers' listings from your search results.
thank you Jez, I tried that at the direction of an eBay assistant and it worked for awhile but they've overridden it somehow
Frankly I didn't even look at shipping details beyond either it was included in the price, or added to the price, it was within the range I was willing to pay, but when I opened the ticket with eBay, the first thing they said was "We’re sorry to hear that you didn’t receive your item. We have asked the seller to respond to your request. Your purchase is covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee. If your request is not resolved, you can ask us to step in and help beginning 20 Jan 2026." Apart from the fact I've received (and await receiving) more than a dozen items via eBay this month and only one (so far) has failed to arrive, so it would be ludicrous to think for this one item I was trying it on, I never did receive notification of delivery. I found out it had supposedly been delivered by clicking 'track package' wondering where it had got to. And there it says it was handed to the courier - DPD - Jan 11th, and they delivered it Jan 03rd. Clearly there is, in some degree, a problem with the software. eBay's software, that is.
fingers crossed - i was solely trying to block a Seller but Ellen on EBay has just talked me through blocking a Buyer, which hopefully will have the same result. Will let you know.
