So what have you done today..?

  1. Paid the rip off licence fee for my boat, nearly £600 for about 42 miles of water. After 28 years it will be my last year on that river and the boat may need to go into storage next year.

  2. Is it the years on the water or the cost of the license that’s prohibiting you?

  3. I love being on the water, it’s the licence costs. It used to be less than half that and it will go up 16 percent every year now and for such a short stretch of water, the bad state of the locks, lack of maintenance etc it’s not worth it. I will try to get the boat on another waterway but finding a mooring is difficult so it may have to go into storage until I can move it elsewhere. Another greedy charity unfortunately.

  4. The trouble is @Zeus, you'll still need to pay insurance if you want it covered for theft and/or damage, and storage is likely to be equivalent to the £600, or more.
It costs me roughly that to keep my 6.5M RIB on it's trailer at a local caravan Storage place, and that's discounted as I've been there years.
And I assume in your case, just paying storage costs means you can't even use it if you want to.

  5. My insurance is £150 a year, the mooring fees are £1000 and the river licence is £600. If I dry store it at my marina it will be the same as the mooring fee and it will have to be insured, I’ll still save the £600 as it’s not in the water. No i can’t use it as it needs to be craned but I can use it as a caravan on site still! Hopefully I’ll find another waterway to sail it to.

  7. Just finished a 72 hour fast about an hour ago. It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting, but towards the end all I could think about was food (for a change!).

  9. It’s my first one, so was a sort of training fast! I need to be fairly sensible with it, as I’m still going to the gym and swimming 2-4k a day while fasting. I achieved the results I wanted, so it’s all good.

  10. I fitted another kitchen tap yesterday, but what's it with clients that don't remove all their shite cleaning products etc from the sink base unit before i arrive on site.

  11. I often go to decorate a room and the customer has left everything in place, furniture, ornaments, the lot.

  12. it's a good feeling at the end isn't it? - i think that's supposed to be the safest time period without complications. Done this around 3 times over the years, a massive willpower test. Aren't we lucky we have a choice? - to resume eating!

  13. Over the years I've walked out of about 4 jobs because of that problem after explaining to them what to leave/take out before I start.

  14. Tuesday was appointment day at the fracture clinic, I was concerned that post surgery, I have very little movement in my wrist, at no point since the accident has my wrist been examined, mentioned this to the consultant, went straight for an xray, nothing abnormal showed up, consultant determined that i have got CRPS, which is a rare side effect from the surgery, now sporting a rather fetching black wrist splint :(

I have been booked for an MRI scan to confirm his diagnosis, the appointment letter arrived this morning, appointment time, 18:50 Wed 25th Feb

Then I will be booked in for the Pain Clinic

Had my second physio session this morning, had a chat to see how I'm getting on, asked me what exercises I had been doing, he took some measurements again, I have about 20° more on the arm straightening, and about 10° more on the arm curl than the previous meeting three weeks ago

  15. However associations are inadvertently made, you have come to remind me of fish and chips.

  16. I worked with a contract bricklaying gang years ago. When we turned up at a new job, before the lads got out of the vans the boss would run a string along the foundation and measure it. If it was miles out he'd call into the site office and say, there's a pig in that foundation. Give us a ring when you've sorted it out.
