What I'm doing. Hold onto your hats! I think this was called 'Golden Milk'? Bring a saucepan of milk to the boil. Add up to a teaspoon of turmeric and up to a teaspoon of cinnamon, somewhat less of ginger and black pepper. Simmer for ten minutes. Drink. The turmeric and black pepper are the required addition, with other herbs and spices optional. Supposedly anticarcinogenic and anti-diabetic, though you should consult your doctor first if you're on diabetes medication, as both turmeric (curcumin) and cinnamon reduce blood sugar. The black pepper activates the curcumin. There's conflicting information on whether curcumin has any health benefit. What I originally heard, long ago, was that it's being the major ingredient in curry was why there's much less cancer in India than there is in the West; though whether there is less I don't know. There is certainly more, eg, leprosy. And we die of things today that we didn't use to because we didn't use to live long enough, ie we died of something else first. So maybe it's one of the more impressive dietary options or it isn't - but I love it! You can add turmeric to all sorts of food without altering the taste unacceptably - like to the stir-fry added to pasta and pesto and parmesan; to soup; essentially to anything you stir or frequently turn. If I don't have something like that, I have the 'golden milk'. I'd do myself another mug, but it's just one a day. So there you are: I've drunk a mug of milk simmered with turmeric and black pepper (and cinnamon and ginger) and much to my initial surprise, love it!
In a similar vein we have been drinking Masala Chai Tea over here in India..absolutely gorgeous drink.
Whatever next? People will be having "Golden Showers" soon! Be warned turmerik may may your nut sack itch...
I had this at the front of the house, once. God forbid you search for photos of it! May I suggest Johnson's Baby Powder? I'm sure it's much more gentle. Edit: if it's safe to put on your Johnson...
Classic Golden Milk Recipe Prep time: 2 min | Cook time: 10 min | Servings: 1 Ingredients: 1 cup Milk (Whole dairy milk is traditional, but almond, coconut, or oat milk work well) 1 tsp Ground turmeric (or 1-inch fresh turmeric root, grated) 1/4 tsp Black pepper, freshly ground (essential to activate the turmeric) 1/2 tsp Ground ginger (or 1-inch fresh ginger root, grated) 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon 1 tsp Sweetener (maple syrup, honey, or jaggery) Optional: 1/2 tsp Vanilla extract Optional: 1/4 tsp Ghee or coconut oil (helps with absorption) Think I’d leave the ghee/ coconut oil out In the meantime is Victoria lager, draught (draft) of course
If you get a chance sometime, grab a bottle or a can. Its very good. I won't promise you your money back but I do think you'll like it.
successfully found two logbooks, but lost two carburettors, but the best bit was that accurately diagnosed a problem with my car, change the part and it started with some jump leads, so very pleased as I didn't fancy trying to push it. Last used regularly 11 years ago and it's been sitting outside
I tried it when I was over in Oz, wasn’t really impressed by it then. Calling it a bitter is a bit of a stretch
