Technical Bulletin Source (nhtsa.gov)

  1. An very useful source of Ducati technical information is the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (possibly the only source outside of Ducati / dealer).

It would be sweet if this source was pinned in the Tech section for newcomers like me.

The NHTSA search for specific models is quite poor, so you're best searching via Google or using AI (ChatGPT did a decent job for me).

    Example:
70 pages of Tips & tricks for various Ducati models from April 2022:
    https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10210945-0001.pdf

(The reason I got there was searching for how to fit a special bracket to a V4 Pikes Peak to make room for tank bags. Coming from 10+ years of BMW I am utterly gobsmacked that there is a special bracket to get the front brake master reservoir out of the way. Did Ducati seriously think people wouldn't put tank bags on their sports tourers? It's there on page 46.)

  2. If you know your way around the Ducati web site, the Accessories page for the tank bag available as part of the Urban pack, states you need the to change the reservoir mounting brackets. Go to the part number of the bracket kit and the assembly instruction are downloadable there, https://media.ducati.com/EPCResources/ATTACHMENTS/05/0540B4C9856932A431B24D0DA5ADA5B9.pdf. What is typical Ducati, look at the Accessories page for just the tank bag, there is no reference to the bracket change : unamused: Andy

  3. Coincidentally, I noticed this today

  4. I bought the correct part (97381991AA) which doesn't look like the part in either bulletin. Hmmm. I compared it to what I already have mounted, and I'm not sure they're different (other than the existing one is silver, not black). Yet one more frustration. I will visit a dealer and get some advice.

And while I'm here, my favourite 'tip and trick' is make sure your panniers have a little hole drilled in them so they will unlock after riding at high altitude. (https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2022/MC-10209664-0001.pdf page 20) As manufactured by Givi, based 150Km from the Alps. :astonished: If nothing else, it's a testament to the seal quality.

  5. That looks like the bracket fitted to my V4PP by the dealer. I’ll see if I can find the OE bracket which must be somewhere in my house. Andy

  6. Oh, excellent - a photo of it fitted would help me greatly, to see if I need to angle the reservoir differently.
    Cheers!
