Just moved the bike after working on the clutch and many other winter jobs, probably been stored in its position for about 6 months. Anyway there on the floor under the bike was this part, I don't recognise it and certainly didn't take it off, Do any of you ducati gurus recognise this part? 1996 ducati 916
Doesn't look like anything I've seen on a 916 plus, it's so clean/unmarked and so doesn't look like it's been tightened up into anything. I'd say it's a stranger.
It's a grub screw, normally used for locking something onto a shaft. Digging deep into my memory to work out where it may have come from on a 916.
That looks very much like a grub screw that would be used to keep a bearing in place on a shaft, don't think it's anything off a bike
Yes it's a grub screw, but unless you've got teeny tiny hands it's rather a large example. Far too large to have come off a bike in my opinion.
Reminds me of my first job, in a factory where everyone had their own 'bay' in which to build a machine - one of the lads had a Z1000 and was rebuilding the engine. As he had nowhere to do it at home he brought it in to work to do it at his bench during break/lunchtimes or after hours so it took him a while. Unbeknown to him someone slipped a couple of extra bolts into the stash of parts that he'd removed so that when he got to the end, he was scratching his head as to where said bolts were missing from.
