Thinking Of 1200/1260 Multistrada- What`s The Bad & Ugly Of Ownership

  1. I was a bit wary of the weight when wheeling mine around for the first few weeks. After that you just get used to it. Wide bars help and smothers have said, once it’s moving you really don’t notice the weight at all. It feels infinitely more nimble than my ZZR1100.

  3. Cheers for reply`s chaps!

Nobody has reported a load of engine/electrical nasties so that`s nice. Stoke Triumph have a 2019 1260 in with 16.5k on it so hope to get to see/test ride this week. :upyeah:

  4. Go for it, good luck.

  5. Get them to do the Desmo service, as part of the deal, before you buy it !:upyeah:

  6. It`s had belts within the last 12 months according to sales blurb. They`ve had it in for around 3 months which im surprised at but it is winter so to speak. Being a 1260 & not an S model maybe that`s why it has`nt sold sooner?

  7. @Stiffler, the 1260 valve clearance check is due at 18,000 miles and it is a long and costly job, done at the same time as an engine service, it can cost over £1000 at a main dealer. @Twinlover has the correct advice. Andy

  8. Thanks Android,
This is where Forums like this are priceless! Explains why it`s taking so long to sell. I thought as belts were done that this is done at the same time. Obviously not! Everyday is a school day eh! I have watched a video of servicing these bikes & yeah it`s not a 5min job:astonished:

Thanks again ALL for your reply`s

  9. Well Chaps,
I`ll probably be banned from the forum for this, but here goes....

As i said in the beginning ive looked at Triumphs BM`s & Ducati`s. Well today another bike entered the list. It`s a little left field maybe & i know you`ll all laugh but i`ve stumbled across a jack of all trades master of none bike. I dont want massive bills from my limited biking & i`m struggling to stomach the prices of Ducati/Triumph/BMW so today i tried a Suzuki GSXS1000GX. Did`nt ride it but that`s coming soon. This bike will do everything i want a bike for so it`s now top of the list. Yes, it`s not as plush/quality of a MTS/Tiger etc but servicing at my small local dealer is nearly a £1,000 cheaper(compared to Ducati dealer) for a 15k service. Nuff said.

Not bought one yet, not ridden one yet but i hope i like it!?

Thanks for all your input though guy`s ! Much appreciated!!

  10. I think that and the GT are great value for money, engine is great, very reliable even if a little old now, it's based on a K5 GSXR1000 with reduced power. Personally prefer the GT, but they don't have elec suspension like the GX. I'm sure it will ride well. Suzuki luggage isn't as large as GS, Multistrada, so would need to go after market if you are needing that.

  11. Ignore my luggage comment, they're about the same size

  12. Tbh Andrew, i wont really need the luggage much as it`s the riding position im after(dodgy knees). So all the usual Adventure bike "must have`s" dont really apply. I`m sure one day i`ll curse that comment but i cant see it happening?
