So what have you done today..?

  1. I absolutely love it. I used to ride off-road when I was a teenager but only started again when I moved to the countryside in 2020 and tbh that was more gentle bimbling around easy lanes enjoying the scenery in nice weather on my 40 year old DT175. However, in the last few years I've got into harder trails and enduro. It's by far my favourite form of motorcycling, plus it is amazing exercise - my strength and fitness levels have noticeably increased, resulting in amongst other things, improvements in my cricketing, especially bowling.

  10. I had a kz750 twin for a short time.
I brought it to commute on and save whatever Z1000 I had at the time for best.

Everybody told me it was crap because they had that reputation so I sold it and brought a rough Z650 for the same duties.

The reality was that the 650 was crap as it was knackered, and the 750 twin would have served me better.

I'd like another now to build something like your 400.

  13. I did look for a z650 twin but they are near impossible to find now outside the US. This came to me as a box of bits nearly 10 years ago. It’s never let me down once.

  16. Sorry, didn't explain very well, the Z650 I had was a 4cyl.
Yes the early 650 brit twin clone minus the oil leaks must be quite rare now. I wonder what the ones from a few years ago are like? W650 was it ?

  20. A mate of mine had the Z550 4 cylinder with a Kerker exhaust fitted, it sounded amazing. The W650 is apparently very good, never heard any bad reviews of it.
