Race Exhaust Systems And Insurance

  1. Don't all these restrictions, current or potential, simply encourage the purchase of older bikes (EU4 or earlier) where oem systems were nice and fruity and weren't stamped "not for road use" or "track use only"?

  2. Spot on Stanford, the 1960 Matchless G12CSR and '66 R.E. Conti.GT with standard "silencers" would both near drown out a Termi. equipped 916 SPS. Life was a wee bit more simple and tolerant in the '50's and '60's.

  4. And Harleys, how do they get away the stupid noise some of them make.

  6. Harley’s are the worst noise in the world, like an elephants uncontrollable fart…

  7. They sound great with a decent 2:1 - ie. one that works and doesn't cause reversion and is paired with a suitable camshaft. Too many people fit stupid shotgun shortie drag pipes for the look and they sound horrendous. And they kill midrange torque as well which is the whole point of the thing in the first place.

  8. Yeah, it’s tricky, most insurers won’t cover bikes with race-only systems legally, so people either go specialized with track-day policies or ride at their own risk. Definitely don’t just tell them, that can void everything if anything happens.
