I’m just staggered that someone who purports to love bike racing has such a view of this incident. Marquez made a poor pass and was penalised. He pretty much immediately gave up one place (could easily been two) and so played exactly by the rules. It would have been easier to finish the race and then be docked a place. He chose to follow the rules though. Even Pedro was confused as the why as the coverage clearly showed. And, for the record, MM is not my “hero”. I do think he is the goat, but that doesn’t make him my hero.

Not as funny when the boots on the other foot is it. I will add for the sake of balance his brother should have received the same penalty so consistency certainly could improve. When you’ve built a career on ramming people wide, bending rules and the comms still find it hilarious, it’s impossible to have a single ounce of sympathy though. Marquez - racing genius. Accepts P2 on the starting grid, can't to anything about P1. Bezzecchi makes an early error and ends up on the floor, probably trying to get away from Marquez ? Marquez keeps his cool, tries to keep Accosta behind him - at all times knowing completely what is going on, trading places a few times without falling off. Accosta a match for Marquez and maybe with a faster bike. Marquez pulls a move that Simon Crafar was on top of straight away - if Crafer says it was unfair that is good enough for me. I think he called it right and Marquez accepted the decision and probably the Ducati team accepted it as well - they would have been cross if someone had done it to them. That Marc Marquez ...
Faster? May be, top end…may be. But the way that Ducati was driving out of the corner was impressive. Acosta is tenacious and a scrapper. Marc has met his match. I hope. Either way things look promising for spectators. I was worried this year was going to be dull, with an eye on all the changes in spec for next year.
It is off to a good start - enjoyed watching the race. It will be interesting to see how Alex Marquez gets on this season - another very talented racer. Looking good.
