Mugello

  1. And again. I really liked this gig so I’m going back in August with FE (only date available for me). Anyone here going?

@Paul55 and I’ll try and remember my fan this time. It was indeed toasty… :sun::sun::sun::D

  2. No sense of adventure. I think Saudi Arabia is the most “interesting” place I’ve driven. Lagos is also an attack on the senses

  3. I’d go with India. It could be any form of animal life that gets you….. then eats you.

  5. Mugello should be on everyones bucket list if they like to spin some laps abroad.
Mugello should be on everyones bucket list if they like to spin some laps abroad. You'll love it! But August as mentioned is proper hot. A fan and helmet drier are a must...plus a ton of water. I've no idea how the UK operators work as i drive out every year, stay for a month and book on with the local organisers. Promo Racing are the ones who effectively run all the TDs at Mugello and everyone else piggy backs off them. Rossacorsa and Gully racing are the other main Italian organisers that run days there.

They are pretty hot on the timing and making sure everyone is the right group throughout the day. It's a godsend...it doesn't matter how fast or slow you are. Being in a group with similar paced riders just makes the whole experience better. And as someone said the don't bother arguing to move into groups if you're pace isn't there l'uomo capo (boss man) Enrico will tell you how it is. They also do a fun race which is, well a lot of fun. Personally I wouldn't say it's the easiest track to go fast on the outset. While quite easy to learn your way around, it's super wide, changes in elevation and has deep braking zones plus it's fast pretty much everywhere. I always grab an instructor each time i go....the debrief is interesting though with my basic Italian haha.

I'll be out again this year in August/September i've not booked any dates yet but if anyone is out there during that time, then it would be great to meet up as i generally go on my own to the track.

Last year was the first year on the 7G and i can confirm it's fast even stock, the speedo stopped reading 186MPH and the transceiver stated 309kph. The stability at that speed put me in a false sense of security haha.

  6. Brilliant, thanks. I went last year 1-3rd August but I was sick as a dog. Shitty cold with fever/temperature… I spent between sessions laid in my van…

But I was of the ‘fuck it, I’m here’ opinion so I did do a good few laps albeit not on great form. One bloke had a nasty off after blacking out… track was closed for a while whilst medics attended to him. Spooked me a bit as I was feeling so crap myself…

Anyhoo, that straight is crazy addictive. I’ve had the evo software on my bike so the speedo keeps going. I was seeing 194mph (indicated) before grabbing the lever… thrilling stuff. :D:D Was generally circulating ~2.10. The fast nutters are around the 2 min mark.

  7. Ah dude that is the worst but you make the most of it right! I had similar in 2024, disaster from the outset that trip...for biking anyway! Got stung on the right hand by one of their overgrown wasps the day before a trackday. Hand swelled up, fingers disappeared and a hand that resembled the pillsbury doughboy and then was sick from it...joys. Had to cancel the day...then had two days training and the bike decided to leak oil everywhere from the rocker. (Bodge sealed that) Then the rear tyre disintegrated, literally chunks came off it....The instructor felt for me as i was on a struggle fest and sold me a set of Pirelli SC X scrubs (it's all he had) and said make sure you go fast  I was like have you seen how bad my riding is? haha. Did the fun race and got a 2:10 and never had so much fun on the bike.

But yeah that straight is just incredible and then like you say the fast nutters end up humbling us haha.
