Found the streetfighter under a cover, still covered in last years flies Given it a good wash, cleaned the chain and pumped the tyres up. Going to rain for the next 40 days now
Started number 1 Sons DRZ earlier as he wants to ride Madrid to visit his mate in a couple of weeks. Started up with no issues until a small patch of oil appeared on the mat. It's a rubber pipe linking 2 aluminium lines together, I assume the clip has given up. I'll replace both the hose and swap the clips for jubilee clips.
diving straight into controversy, clip looks fine, but just not suited to this purpose as it's torn the hose by the looks of things. Not telling you how to suck eggs, but get the toughest, meanest, bit of hose to replace that if you want longevity. I can tell you firsthand that even the trade sell (watching my language) rubbish hose these days, I replaced a run on a Jaguar a couple of years ago with what was purported to be "high-pressure" - this was only running petrol, and even before it was ever used it showed how easily it would kink. We didn't have time for me to remove it and take it back but it all failed within six months. SAE J30R9 or similar.
Continued removing bits on my R and replacing them with standard - forks, master cylinder, starter switchgear.
Prompted by an email from BeMoto reminding me that my bike insurance is due for renewal I tried to get a quote from them online and their website wouldn't play ball. So I rang them..............to cut a long story short their quote was £719, so I told them that I was expecting it to be somewhere in the region of £400 (which was what I paid last year), but the guy said that was the best they could do but to call them back when I got some comparison quotes. So I went online and got a few quotes from a comparison website using exactly the same information.......and the best quote I got was £427 with about another 5 companies around the £430 mark. I'm now waiting for my current insurers (Motorcycle Direct) to contact me, over the next few days, with their renewal quote so I can decide which way to jump.
So your insurance representative expects you to do the research on their behalf and report your findings back to them? This is one crazy mixed up world.
