Hi all, Would anyone happen to have some photos of the standard air filter versus an open air filter (for a stage 2 dyno jet) please? It would be beneficial if the photos of the air filters were in situ, ie on the bike. It may sound like a strange request but my bike is in the UK and I live in Spain and thus I cannot take the photos myself. I have enquired about importing my Duke to Spain and the company I´m talking to have requested some pics of the upgrades, ie air filter and open cans. Thanks for your help, Richie.
Not related to the air filter theme as such, can I ask if your frame has suffered, like many, and hairline cracks have appeared in the frame. Or is the cross member there as a precautionary measure? Also would it fit if the air filter box had a lid as intended?
It was on there when I bought the bike . It is indeed to stop frame cracking . It was made by a company called BBB fabrication. Not sure if it fits with the air box lid on as I've never tried it .
The frame cracked on my bike quite a few years back and I had it welded and extra bracing added and also managed to get a frame support as a belt and braces option. I can confirm that the frame brace does clear the air filter cover even if it’s an unmodified one, you can’t install the air box onto the frame and carbs with the brace fitted though The cracks on my frame started at the mounting lugs for the tank bracket clip as these seem to act as a stress raiser point and when I stripped the paint off they had gone around halfway round the upper tubing on both sides, I ended up stop drilling them as grinding a small groove to weld them up and then overbracing them That was around 15 years ago and I’ve never had any issues since
Hi bumpstart Slightly off-topic, I notice you're sporting a Lithium battery - have you had any issues at all? I bought one recently, but haven't installed yet. Incredibly light, when the box arrived in the post I thought it was empty!
Hi yes I fitted the lithium battery at the end of last year and I must say it’s been quite a revelation in being so small and light yet delivering an incredible cranking power, I should have got one years ago !! I had upgraded the starter and earth cables previously trying to get a better cold start experience I would certainly recommend one but first check the charging output voltage from your regulator to see if you need to upgrade to a mosfet type, my non mosfet but previously replaced one was fine at 14.2 volts, doesn’t want to be above 14.5 I got mine from caferacerwebshop in the Netherlands
