Emptied the workshop of bikes and had a swap around, started the 899, Nsr and my car to run them up. 899 is still deciding what gear it thinks it’s in until it’s warm then it remembers.
replaced the tank panel, had a scratch in it from before my ownership and it’s always annoyed me, picked up a new one on eBay at a knock down price.
Took the needy little bitch for mot and then rode the long way home. First ride out on it since rebuilding the engine nearly 2 years ago, it ran well.
Forgot to say - while the forks were out I dropped the yokes out and regreased the head bearings. I noticed however that according to the 1098 workshop manual, one applies 30Nm torque to the steering stem nut and that’s it. On 748/916 and 749/999, one applies the torque and then backs off the nut by 30degrees. This does not apparently need to be done on the 1098 for some reason.
