This has been something my kids brought up about the cars i have owned during my life. One of them happened to be a car owned by the BBC/BMW at the time and was sold by my local BMW dealer which i purchased back in 1999 . It was through my local dealer Cronks BMW in Banstead surrey. I part exchanged my current E36 M3 Evo for a E39 M5, It was in a lovely red with Bloodshot red interior. Registration T400BHP. At the time of sale i knew nothing about the previous owner of said vehicle. The car was lovely and i really enjoyed driving it for some weeks before trouble arrived. It had a gearchange issue with 3rd being a problem, in it went for warranty work and a new clutch was installed and i collected it i remember. Soon after it became clear it had not resolved the issue and i waited until it had bedded in some more. I was visiting my father who live in Oxshot at the time and called into a local fuel station there to get some fuel, after i started again some chap said it sounded funny? I listened too and agreed that something was not right with the engine, something was knocking badly. I called BMW assist and they swiftly picked the car up and gave me a 520I replacement while being sorted. After several days BMW head office called saying that the car was not being repaired, and they offered me a full refund plus cash offer for another M5. I did indeed take this offer and got a better car through their dealerships and thought nothing of it, untill sometime after when i noticed my numberplate on the old M5 being shown on media.
