Emptied the workshop of bikes and had a swap around, started the 899, Nsr and my car to run them up. 899 is still deciding what gear it thinks it’s in until it’s warm then it remembers.
replaced the tank panel, had a scratch in it from before my ownership and it’s always annoyed me, picked up a new one on eBay at a knock down price.
Took the needy little bitch for mot and then rode the long way home. First ride out on it since rebuilding the engine nearly 2 years ago, it ran well.
Forgot to say - while the forks were out I dropped the yokes out and regreased the head bearings. I noticed however that according to the 1098 workshop manual, one applies 30Nm torque to the steering stem nut and that’s it. On 748/916 and 749/999, one applies the torque and then backs off the nut by 30degrees. This does not apparently need to be done on the 1098 for some reason.
Popped over to Ducati Alton to see if the new V2 Hyper has arrived. It hasn’t. Then popped to Bahnstormer to see if the new 450GS has arrived. It hasn’t. Good to get out the house for a bit though.
Up at 4:30am to leave at 5 for the 226 mile drive upto Ducati Stoke. What a great guy Simon was to deal with including helping get my 765 out of the van and the new multi in. Loaded and away by 10:15 , home by 2:30 . A great journey up and back. Shame it was a misty drizzly afternoon when I got home. Garage time it was, so fitted a rad guard, screen protector and fender extender. Might have to try and rearrange the garage to allow access to all bikes without having to get one out to get another out due to the larger size of the multi . Fingers crossed for a dry day tomorrow.
