Monster/Monster+ Chinese Rearsets

  1. Hi,

I recently purchased a m1100s. It has come with Chinese rearsets which came loose on a ride.

Can they be trusted or better to be binned? They loosened so much that I couldn't shift down at some points.

If it tighten then and loctite them, will they be ok?

I'm worried about safety and the gearbox being damaged from poor gear changes. Is this a real concern or after tightening and loctite they should work just fine?

  2. Why not loctite them, then check them regularly? :upyeah:

  3. Where they are made is not a massive issue, it’s WHO made them. If they are no name generic bits I wouldn’t trust them on anything safety critical no matter where they came from. Just not worth it.

  4. I have a cheap set on my Mt09 that did the same, once i stripped and loctited everything they have been fine.

  5. Loctite them and if they then loosen that’s the time to change them

  6. I bought a 916SPS years ago.
It had beautiful Harris Performance rearsets on it.
After I rode it literally around the block for the first time I came home and both of them were physically loose.
It's not necessarily the quality of the parts - if they are fitted by a gimp then they can kill you.

  7. And what they were made from? Aluminium is good, Chinesium not so and Unobtanium well, you just can't get it...

Seriously though, coming undone is likely because they weren't fitted correctly in which case, fit them correctly.

Alternatively if they're coming undone because the threads are poorly made, then consign them to the bin.
