900ss Fork Springs

  1. My forks are apart and I have two different springs, after searching it seems a 900ss 1993 41mm came with progressive springs of which I can find replacements to my weight but ive been searching for a linear spring which no one seems to make? called Brook suspension today and they only have linear for 900ss 98-07 but mentioned I could send them a few dimension and they will see if they can find a match, if it doesn't workout then I will get progressive ones.

Has anyone found a linear spring to fit or find the original one good enough and I'm over thinking it :)

  2. Sounds like sending your measurements to Brook is probably your best bet, they usually know what can fit even if it’s not listed. A lot of people just end up using the progressive ones without any real issues, so you’re probably not overthinking it too much. Either way, it’s nice to get it sorted with something that matches your weight.

  3. Yep the prog are original and most folks don't like them as they are too soft.
Linear springs are a good and, in the SS world, well proven upgrade, speak to K-Tech they do an excellent upgrade of springs & valves for these shocks & tailor them to your weight & spec:

This is a very old email (2014 so ignore the prices) but this was pertaining to an upgrade on mine:
"For your forks I would recommend one of our 20SSK piston kits. These comprise of complete new compression and rebound piston assemblies with our own design CNC machined pistons which have revised damping settings to give greater damping efficiencies. these are also supplied with new rebound flow control valves and needles to give a much finer range of adjustment to the rebound damping circuit. The SSK piston kits are designed for road and track day use to enhance the performance of the standard fork and give a greater front end feel and confidence to the rider. The cost of the SSK piston kit to fit your make and model of bike is £191.66 + VAT.
To compliment the piston kit we also manufacture replacement compression Flow Control Valves, these replace the standard items fitted in the bottom of the fork legs and give a much finer range of compression adjustment. The price of these optional Flow Control Valves is £62.50 + VAT.
We also offer optional rate fork springs to suit rider weight and the discipline the bike is being used for, the price of these is £70.84 per pair + VAT"
I wonder if your bike has been in a crash and had a leg replaced?? Very strange to have two different springs..!
