Check out Austin Racing's page as they now list a couple of interesting options: 1) an end can only 2) a decat pipe that can work with the standard or temi silencers 3) a full system Good to see the market is starting to open up with other non-termi options.
I am a big fan of Austin Racing products but the prices are silly now and they missed a trick designing this system. The main gripe is that link pipe outside of the swinging arm yet their system has not routed the link pipe behind the swinging arm. At £2400 that’s a fortune for no visual improvement. The slip on isn’t great, a bit of pipe and a silencer for £1440 ! Plus you will melt your boots on it. I got my full Termi system for not a fortune more than that and it retains the warranty.
Not a fan of either, especially the expensive one, looks worse than the OE (in my opinion), which is quite an achievement!
I have two questions about the MY25 V2S exhaust systems: Are all the homologated slip-ons / exhaust systems made so that db-killer cannot be removed easily, thanks to EURO5(+) regulation ? When going with a full racing exhaust, does anyone know if it is possible to go below the 98dB that the default db killers provide (at least for Termignoni) ? How hard is it to do custom db killers ? I think that EURO5(+) legal exhausts make the bike sound like a sewing machine, but the racing ones are still a bit too loud for non race usage. You will annoy all your neighbours and become a cop magnet (especially in countries like CH/DE/AUS where it is taken seriously...). A middle-ground would be awesome (nice growly sound at reasonable dB levels).
The road legal slip ons sound no different to standard, just look a bit better. Still have the same link pipe. The full system is loud but good, I didn’t fit the db killers so cannot comment. They fit in the pipe where it enters the silencers.
If anyone sees this post and owns a QD Exhaust Euro5(+) slip-on, I would be interested to know if they also made the dB killers hard to put/remove. My understanding is that what kills the noise most is still the catalytic converter, not really the dB killers. You would need to use the racing slip-ons onto the regular cated pipe. Don't know what it would do for sound. Still, if you get arrested for a routine control, cops would see the "for racing only use" on the slip-ons, even if the bike is not obnoxiously loud and the rest of the pipe perfectly legal.
The ‘racing use only’ wording points to the US market. Mine has ‘nothing’ showing as the ‘heat shield’ covers it !
As I recall it is a paragraph so yes it takes rather more effort than painting. Easy enough to remove the not for road use and track reference using a dremel. Each to their own.
In my country, they are rather strict with anything modified, so I think that if they hear the bike a bit louder than the others, and with a shiny brand like Termi, QD, SC Project and such, they will automatically ask for the homologation paper. The only expection would be a big ugly Akra if the bike is on the quiet side, as many brands now ship with these "for show only" Akras
I will be trying the de-cat pipe from Austin combined with the homologated Termi to see if the advertised 97dB from the de-cat pipe is quieter, especially at low regime, compared to the full racing line from Termi. I have a hard time believing this racing line is really rated at 98dB (with dB killers).
have you managed to find anyone that can do a map yet to turn the lambdas off? I chatted to shift-tech and they do a decat pipe now that is half the price or less of the ausin racing one buto nly has one lambda, so only for the US market. The EU market has two. Apparantly upmap will have a tune at some point but no dates yet.
i see that UPMAP have now finally released the maps for our bike including disabling the 2nd lamda (for EU bikes). Has anyone got one and tried it yet? i'll be giving a go in the spring along with the Arrow or Shift-Tech decat pipe alongside my existing Termi silencers. Hopefully that will hit the spot without paying out for the full system.
I finally did not go the Austin route Question : does anyone know how annoying the Euro5 slip-ons are on the new V2, regarding the baffle situation ? In the end, for countries where the full exhaust is too risky, I think that slip-ons with no baffle is still the best solution. But Euro5(+) are a pain to work with, apparently.
The baffles are not easily removeable on the termi slips if that is what you mean - they look pretty but sound pretty much the same as stock to my ears. My decat pipe and upmap just arrived so that will be my plan for this weekend.
I would just like to share my experience with Austin Racing's customer service. As soon as I saw they had a slip-on with the small V3 Mini-R can, I ordered this in June 2025 and had it delivered in August. But when I mounted the slip-on, I noticed that it was very close to the swingarm and I measured the distance to 3 mm. Far too close and a very high risk of it scratching the swingarm. After contacting customer service, I was promised that they would replace the slip-on with an updated version and it would be ready in about a week or so. Nothing happens and after a few emails back and forth and 2 months pass, I finally get a response that they will instead send a bracket that replaces the original bracket for the muffler/catalyst. They claim that this bracket will move the entire exhaust system out a little and make it wiggle less. I get this bracket delivered in October and install it and the distance from the swingarm goes from 3 mm to 4 mm. I don't think this is enough and the exhaust system can still easily wiggle these 4 mm so that it touches the swingarm. But when I ask, I get a response from customer service that this is the final and best solution. I keep asking a bit and finally find out that they have made a version 2 of the slip-on which is 20-25 mm longer and which seems to solve the problem, but they are not interested in replacing my slip-on. Then they stopped answering my emails. So it looks like I'll have to fix this problem myself. I have attached a picture of what it looks like with their bracket installed. And I also saw now that they have changed the picture on the product page to a slightly longer version. I have attached both the old and new picture from the product page. I'm also wondering if anyone else here bought this slip-on before they made the updated version and if so, if you've managed to get it replaced or fixed this yourself.
