1098 1098r Race Ecu

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by T0m, Mar 14, 2026 at 7:48 PM.

  1. Howdy all,

I appreciate this is a stretch but does anyone know of a 1098R race ECU for sale? This is for the Termi slip-ons, not full system.

The one I have is a dud sadly, and whilst Ducati have stock, I’d rather not have to fork out £1,600!

    Many thanks,

    Tom

  2. Blimey! - hanging on to mine with both hands as a a result  I think that a standard ECU could be re-written to achieve this? (i.e. - you still need to purchase a stock compatible ECU)

  3. Thanks, Chris!

I definitely owe you a few packs of Wotsits for all the support you’ve given me!

I was thinking of getting an ECU flashed as a last resort as would prefer to keep the bike complete with the supplied race ECU, but suspect this may require a rather long wait! I’ll make some enquiries on Monday with regards to getting the ECU flashed.

    Thanks again

  4. What is the reference number of the ECU label?

  5. Hi Chris!

I wish I could provide this but unfortunately the race ECU I have is missing both labels, which in itself is odd.

    Cheers,

    Tom

  6. What is the start up message on your dash?

    1098(S) - SBK 1098 TSE

    1098(S) DP Slip On - 1098 RACING

    1098(S) Full System - 1098 RACING EVO

    1098R - SBK 1098R TSE

    1098R DP Slip On - 1098R RACING

    1098R Full System - 1098 R RACE EVO

  7. Thanks for sharing this.

I don’t think the race ECU I have allows for the startup process to progress far enough to trigger the message. It just throws the immobiliser light on.

My standard/working ECU will display the below on startup:

    “1098R - SBK 1098R TSE“

I’ve got the Termi end cans fitted and the fuelling parameters are in need of a fettle (is running rough at low-end).

  8. That is a stock map ECU for a 1098R not a Ducati Performance one for the slip on exhaust.

  9. Ah, oh well.

Thank you very much for letting me know.

  10. I have checked my map collection and you need:
22BFBBFS0A2 or 22BFBFP0A04 for the slip on Termi exhaust for the 1098R.
If you can source a second hand ECU from an 848/1098/1198/SF/HM (an IAW5AM HW610) it can be reflashed to the DP map.
I suspect we are not getting the full story on your issues. Unlike earlier bikes with an immobiliser, for the 1098 it is based in the dash only and the ECU itself is virgin. This means that an ECU from, for example, another 1098R would be plug and play. What led up to the DP ECU being a dud.
If you PM me I can help regarding the ECU, just check out my posts on the forum.

  11. Great, thanks for the map info.

I’ve not tried the ECU myself, I decided to leave it to the techs when the bike was in for the belt service (as it also needed a new battery box install after I found that the captive nut was spinning in its housing), so I may have the details incorrect. I just know that the ECU isn’t correct, but perhaps there is further pertinent info that I’m unable to provide.

I could try installing the ECU, I *think* it’s within my ability but I trust that it’s fooked, so don’t feel it’s worth the effort trying as I’ve already resigned to the fact that I need a new one.

I’ve only had the bike a matter of months, and the “race” ECU didn’t come fitted (the standard Akras were also installed). I don’t have any info as to what caused the ECU to be toast sadly, only that the previous owner didn’t use the ECU or Termis.

Thanks again for the advice, and offer to help. You’ll be the first to know if I get stuck (sorry in advance!)

    Cheers
