I am new to the Ducati world (see my intro https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/duke-newbie.105252/) and have some questions. This being one of no doubt many. I have only ridden fifty or so miles but have encountered a couple of problems: 1) - the bike seems to stall / threaten to stall when the clutch lever is pulled. It does seem to idle in neutral. There is no obvious clutch drag and all seems to operate correctly so I am stumped. I'm assuming that the 'choke' lever is in fact a fast idle and I have tried using that but can't seem to get it to stabilise at less than 4000 rpm. Bike is 2003 model if that makes any difference. 2) - And I am not sure if this is connected but I have experienced more false neutrals when changing gear on this bike in 50 miles than I think I ever have in my riding life. Does it just need a good kick or is this is sign of a problem?
Stalling usually cured with a TPS reset coupled with correct setting of CO level. False neutrals can be cured by adjusting the gear lever down slightly using the adjusters.
Sounds like the idle might need adjusting if it stalls with the clutch, and the false neutrals could be clutch plates or linkage needing a tweak. Worth getting it checked before riding more.
Do not touch the idle settings on the throttle bodies. Get the highest idle rpm by adjusting the CO settings.
Software is free. Google JPDiag download or Guzzidiag, download IAWDiag. Cables from LonElec https://www.lonelec.com/product/guzzidiag-3pin-interface-cable-kit/
Having zero luck with JPDiag! When I click connect it says connecting and I get a green bar but then nothing! Any ideas? I have installed and uninstalled a few times and tried having bike both on and off before connecting but nothing.
Are you using the correct Com port? Use Device Manager to check. As your bike is of 2003 vintage, it may have the IAW59M ECU fitted. Set JPDiag to ‘slow Init’.
So after some messing about with different port settings and a few tries i got the connection to work. Only to find out that a previous owner (dont know who) has already registered the ECU so I cant get a licence. I have emailed for help.
