So what have you done today..?

  1. I've got the lads that built my patios last year round digging up and relaying one of the patio areas as it seemed to have sunk slightly in the middle and was "ponding" in the centre over the winter with all the rain we had. It's a ball ache but needs doing.

  2. Went to a gig in a back street venue to see a friend’s son playing in a band
Considering they are all around 16 years old they did very well. IMG_6824.jpeg

  4. got my runaround car up in the air to do the exhaust but weather is too nice really - better get it done as found the angle grinder so no excuses now.

    EDIT
"broke the flange*" joint - you all remember it's nearly always the hardest part isn't it? - couldn't get safe access with either grinder (used the new Tesco one, with a bigger disc) to make much of an impression but it helped to thin the metal. I'd already used a propane "gun" so resorted to a Dremel** and was surprised to find that flat-out, i could cut right through with a tiny disc, so finally, after more heat, it started to rock and even swivel. :sun::sun::sun::sun:

A cup of tea now before the fun part, jiggling it all around, and clamping and attaching the hangers in a happy place. - Car might be scrap within the next two years, so hope it's worth it.

*it's not even a flange but i like the word.

** made by Dremel but a bit of a toy, nothing like 30 years ago version.

  5. Making use of the good weather to drag the folding camper out of storage. First thing is to clean and re-proof the 20 year old canvas as we had a leak at the end of the season last year. The Worx 20v lance has been ideal to soap and rinse the canvas and I finally had the opportunity to use the Lidl £15 electric sprayer I bought in January last year. Awesome tool, got the whole canvas re-proofed in less than 30 minutes. I spent more time walking up and down the ladder and refilling the spray bottle than I did actually spraying :joy: Just got to leave it out now for 24 hours so the fumes can disperse. Time to check tyre pressures and get the Scramblers out for a run. Andy

  6. Do patio's come with "ponding" warranty?

  7. Not familiar with the term ‘ponding’ so checked with the urban dictionary. o_O

Not something you’d want to see on your patio, especially if your garden is overlooked……

  8. As an ex Quantity Surveyor and Groundworks company owner I have to say a very solid NO!

Ponding on block paving particularly but any product is one of those "OMG" moments because one instantly knows that this is going to be grief that will unlikely ever be rectified. I was anal and meticulous about getting such things right first time but when they come back to bite it is a wallet emptying scenario.

  9. ^^^ I had to check.
So just to save everyone else

  10. I too like the word flange.

  11. They've lifted the whole of the affected area, improved the drainage (to the spec I asked for originally but they said was overkill) and relaid/refixed the slabs. All at their costs not mine.

  12. Worth the early start today as we bought the car . A very Happy daughter. It's 15 years newer than her old Ka . Disappointed it hasn't got a CD player for her charity shop CD's.

  13. I would say you've had a result until the next pond arises, which it will more than likely but i hope it doesn't.

  16. Great day today. We’re currently staying at The Fish hotel near Broadway in the Cotswolds. Had a walk into the village today, loads of fresh air, a few drinks, then went to James Martin’s restaurant for dinner.

We’ll walk to Broadway Tower after breakfast tomorrow, then are booked for a late afternoon roast at a highly recommended pub.

  17. Well Dad buy her a Macbook and an Apple Music subscription? Then she can load the charity store CD's to the cloud and replay in the car via Carplay.
