On the verge of putting down a deposit on a 2017 S with 19k miles, one owner and full Ducati service history. Desmo service with belts done at 18k in 2022. Does anyone know if the service schedule will have included fork oil? Chain, sprockets and tyres all look good, any other things to watch out for? Cheers
Owner’s manual here, https://downloads.ctfassets.net/oif...b33/Supersport_-_Supersport_S_-_EN_-_MY17.pdf. Replacing fork oil is not a service item. Andy
Ah, many thanks for that. It actually lists a fork 'fluid' change at 27k, along with a coolant change. There's always something
Ok, I didn't actually buy last year in the end but, via an intervening Multistrada, I have now finally done the deed It's a little bit of a project as the rhs fairing panels have both got some scuff damage from being poorly strapped when it was transported. It also doesn't have an MOT but it has only done 1000 miles since passing the last one so I'm hoping that'll be a formality. It's booked in Friday next week near to where I'm picking it up. Let's hope I've not done something really stupid!
Got my red Supersport... It passed it's MOT, the good news, but had an orange engine warning light on the dash, the bad news. Seemed to be running ok so headed home and arrived without incident. Found my OBD II adapter that I'd bought for my Multistrada that I use with one of those Bluetooth dongles. Turns out it's the exhaust valve sticking/seized, which it seems, according to the ducatisupersport939 forum, is a very common problem. Looking at it, the worst bit may be getting the cover off, as the three bolts that hold it on look very corroded. In fact, the lower one barely looks like a bolt!
The exhaust valve sticks due to picking up crap from the roads, frequent cleaning and lubrication does the trick, or, you can disconnect it and get a plug in device to fool the ECU, I haven’t done this myself but others have. I think the SS is a great bike, I’m on my second. This one is a 950S
