Vpns

  1. I am contemplating starting to use NordVPN. I understand that you can set your country anywhere, including to be in the UK. Does anybody here use a VPN, and if so, is it OK with using this site?

  2. I have been using VPN's for decades. Currently using Nord and there's no issues on here, or there or anywhere.

  3. Kaspersky VPN
    Proton VPN

  4. Enjoy the privacy while it lasts as I suspect VPNs are yet another thing which this appalling government intends to ban.

  5. +1 for Proton. Andy

  6. Source plz?

  7. Since the requirement to provide evidence of age to access a number of sites that are or should be restricted to children (pornography springs to mind), there has been speculation in the press and on social media that restrictions on using VPNs will follow. The current Labour government has denied this. Andy

  8. How sad am I or just very cynical… if one of the current crop of politicians deny it then it must be true!

  10. Pattern recognition.

  11. No big reason. I am interested to see if I can get stuff on Netflix not available in the UK and the same with Amazon Prime. I won't do it in time for Spain trip one, but will see if my banking apps still work properly when they know I am in Spain.

Also, I don't particularly like my ISP's ability to snoop on me. I would prefer them not to be able to intrude. Also, when I am abroad, I can set my location back to the uk and that may be useful.

  12. One issue I have discovered is that if I connect my phone VPN to an EU Country it treats it as if I’m roaming and therefore I have limited Data availability. So I’m thinking it’s a potential risk than you could rack up excess charges if you go over your roaming data allowance.

  13. The issue of my mobile racking up charges when in Spain, I have not dealt with. I am hoping that the hotel has WiFi that I can use when in the hotel. Outside of the hotel may be an issue but for the first trip, I can't be bothered. For trip 2, I should have a VPN available and may use it on my tablet to watch UK stuff on Netflix, Amazon Prime and YouTube, but this will only be on WiFi, so in those circumstances, a VPN to pretend that I am in the UK would be useful. On my phone, I might still not bother with a VPN.

  14. I use it all the time. Mainly for Sky Go, news channels and sport in general need a UK VPN to watch it. And I’m on the road a lot…

  15. Don't worry about it , just watch crummy Spanish TV.

  16. I've just noticed that the last firefox update has an in-built vpn that allows 50Gb of data per month...maybe worth a try? :upyeah:

  17. I was just about to post there's apparently one in Firefox now (though I recently switched to Waterfox). Not as potentially secure as a paid one - on which subject I signed up for NordVPN a couple of years back, only to find they don't support Windows prior to 10; so I cancelled.

If they don't understand the privacy issues with Windows 10 and 11, they're not as competent as they appear.

  18. Today I booked my taxi to the railway station for my trip to Plymouth, where I leave for Spain on Wednesday. That's everything done.

Incidentally, Monday is also the start of the financial year. I was going to be all smug saying that I don't care about that, but in reality I do as it effects giving money to daughters without it being classed as a tax fiddle of inheritance tax. And next financial year I will certainly be caught by income on investments - I think, possibly, maybe, I have no idea.

Espania will be fun, I'm sure.
