Ok Fight Fans - Best Ever Boxing Punch?

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Andy Bee, Aug 22, 2022.

  1. Nothing to see here...
Pacquiao, 47, last fought WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, with a draw in 2021.
Mayweather, 48 last fought McGregor with a 10th-round technical knockout in 2017.

This is another BS boxing match purely for cash and made possible by the marketing hype. Personally I have no interest.

  2. Wholeheartedly agree. Their first fight was a little dull. NFI.

  3. On Netflix too

  4. I’d rather watch 100ft wave, for the tenth time.

  5. Certainly looks like the real deal… I’ve not seen a heavyweight cut through the order with such dominance since Tyson. Super quick hands, poise and power :astonished:

i think I’d leather him though. :punch:

  6. I can't see who you're replying to, but I suspect you're referring to Moses Itauma? That was another scary KO the other night and he's looking like a future world champ. Mind you, the last time I said that I was talking about Ben Whittaker and shortly afterwards his rocket-like trajectory plateaued considerably, so don't go rushing off to Paddy Power to put your pension on that prediction....

  7. Yes, Itauma. Massive banger and it’s hard to see him losing at the moment. To anyone! That said his defence isn’t immaculate and this is heavyweights…

  8. Yeah. He keeps his lead hand very low

  9. In addition to his hand speed he has great reaction speed and this, in addition to being a southpaw with a big reach, may have helped him get away with it so far. Keeps his left nice & high mind, until he gets excited.

Yeah, plus we don't know what his stamina is like. Knocking guys over in two rounds is all very well but when he steps up a level to wiley old pros who can make angles, dance & smother for 8/10 rounds it maybe different. However I suspect it's going to be difficult to find such opponents as they're taking notice & will be wary of him.

Reminds me a little of Foreman, Joshua or Bruno... talking of which...

  11. He certainly seems to have the movement and timing. Power, obvs…

As said, stamina and punch resistance yet to be tested. If these two stack up, I can’t see anyone beating him. And he’s only about 12 isn’t he?

  12. Yeah... I've got socks older than him.

Plus ring craft & how to move in a 'fight' - all top pros have it to a greater or lesser degree. Some inherently, Tyson, Usyk, Fury and some need guidance, Dubois, Joshua or Lewis but either way you need rounds to hone it.
