Been getting a lot of miles down on my 749 post big service. A fair chunk of these are following my other half on her RS660 while she finds her feet having got her full license. This has left me with a bit more time to contemplate my bike. The LCD display for battery voltage wanders round all over the place, I always expect a charging voltage to be somewhere around 14v with the engine running but i rarely see anything like that, it often show values around the 11v mark. Every time it drops obviously it starts flashing and the "right hand" bottom value flicks to battery voltage. 10 seconds later, back up over 12 Bike runs fine, starts fine, must be charging or the battery would have been way flat by now as we have ridden in the dark for hours etc, etc. Have tried searching for info but lots of feedback is about bikes not charging whereas mine seems to be charging fine but the display doesn't agree. Is it likely to be an actual charging issue and the battery is charging just not very well or is there a device somewhere measuring the voltage that has a dogy earther or something. I kept clicking the right button on the display to clear it, then the button fell off so now i need one of those!
When I had this on my 999 it was a duff ECU. Found my post about my tale of woe https://www.ducati.community/threads/999-help.3649/#post-55740
One day either your regulator-rectifier or your battery - or both - will fail leaving you stranded in the middle of nowhere. Or you could sort it properly.
