Unusual Overnight Accommodation

  1. My old Monster let me down for the first time yesterday afternoon, refusing to start when I returned after a day volunteering at the Bo’ness and Kinneal Railway. Everything was OK when I rode there in the morning but at 1630, no dashboard lights, no fuel pump, no signs of life at all. I phones the RAC and was given an estimated time of arrival of between 2200 that evening and 1020 the next day. Not wishing to hang about that long but not wanting to leave my bike unattended overnight, i hunted about to see if I could find somewhere secure to leave it. A big shout out to the guys in the Steam Shed who suggested that I leave it there overnight. It was a long push across the site but I made it eventually, parked up and got the bus home.
The RAC gave me a slot this morning so I got a lift back to Bo’ness and had the long push back from the Steam Shed to the car park. Peter from the RAC arrived around 1230 and diagnosed and fixed the problem, an ignition relay had worked loose, in less than 10 minutes. Top man!
In case you’re wondering, the loco is a BR 4MTT.
