What Tools For Adjusting Chain Tension?

Discussion in 'Supersport (2016 onwards)' started by zooptee, Sep 19, 2020.

  1. I've just bought my first Ducati, a 2019 Supersport S.
What tools do I need for adjusting the chain tension?
And what torque setting do I need to use?
    All help very much appreciated.

  2. Large C spanner, I have a 2 arm adjustable one, and a big Torx bit, will look up the size for you later.

  3. Thanks Bob...

  4. This worked well for me on my 2013 848 EVO

  5. I've just bought the bit, it's aTorx T60.
Bizarrely I got it on line from Tesco!

  6. Is there no C spanner in the toolkit?

  7. The toolkit one is flimsy and weak. Get a better one.

  8. Bought a cheapie off ebay and whilst it's done the job the radius was a bit smaller than the hub, even though it claimed to be for the Supersport with the Ducati part number.

I may look around for something better quality

  9. Still using the one that came with my 748 back in 98 - works fine if one is careful.

  10. I got one similar to this for my previous Multistrada, it also fits the Supersport and all other Ducatis with the same hub.

  11. Although slight, there are two sizes of c spanner. One for the older type hubs with the smaller axle using the 46mm wheel nut and one for the later type using the 55mm nuts, which is a slightly bigger radius.
The torque on the single torx bolt is 43Nm.
