  5. Fitted a new starter solenoid to the 916, started up straight away so I had a bimble. Will take it down to pool house tomorrow to get some dinner.
Also Recieved a large rear hub for the radical, so can fit the mag wheels I picked up a few months back.

  9. Gave it a proper wash. Clean and degunked the front sprocket area, relubed chain, gave it full acf50 treatment, sprayed all the linkages and gave it a good ceramic polish. Even cleaned the mirrors with some Windolene. Nor the easiest bike to clean, the 1260 Diavel..

Went for a nice evening run over the Pennines yesterday. Still a lot of salt on the road, albeit just dust, but the bike looked a bit white this morning so gave it the works.

Found the odd niggle. The dealer I bought it from refitted the rear brake line as part of the pdi as they said someone had worked on it and not assembled it correctly. Looks like they didn't either as there's a little cable clip on the top of the swinging arm holding the brake line and ABS cable. They'd fitted it the wrong way round so that the ABS cable has been rubbing against the wheel rim, scuffing the paint off and nearly abrading through the cable. No ABS warnings showing so seems to be working OK. I turned the clip around so there's plenty of clearance and taped up the damaged cable. Not a biggy but a bit of a pisser.

  11. My mate who was my oldest partner in crime worked at STD Joinery there; as did Dave of the guitars and Harleys. I worked at Star Hill Saw Mill at Eversley.

(Then Dave and I worked at STD's Andover operation, which was next to Andover Norton. Because he was banned, I used to take him - from Basingstoke - there and back every day on the '67 Daytona I posted here last year).

I see you're in Farnham. I used to love the hill down from Mapledurwell way, having turned right just before Hook - for the A3 roundabout - but when I looked at it a few years ago on Google Street View it looked emasculated.

  14. Cleaned and polished the bike I’d found
Tightened the wire basket and a few nuts and bolts. It’s now good to go.
