Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any experience of their 748/916 etc having a normal raised tickover at startup (approx. 2k), then it dropping to the normal tickover (about 1k), and then when the bike warms up it rising to 2-3k again? Smells like an intake air leak to me but I wondered if anyone has any other experience before I have to strip the bike? Thanks Andy

So if AI told you to strip your engine as its has a failed head gasket! Would you do it......? I would start with the basics. Throttle cable and cold start button adjustment. Then set up and balance the throttle bodies and adjust the CO2. Then, if that doesn't sort it! Check that the fuel pressure is correct and not too high, just in case there is an issue with the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel return pipe being restricted or breaking up internally.
