1098s Service After Storage

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by BadApple, Apr 11, 2026.

  1. Hi all

Im bringing my 2007 1098s with 19k on the clock back to life after being stored for a year . I broke my collar bone at Snetterton on my track bike last may so the bikes were tucked away as it was a pretty bad break and couldn't ride until a couple of weeks ago .

So got the fairing off and gave the bike a really good de grease and got a list together.

    Needs

Oil and filter ( desmo service done in Feb last year )

    Brake and clutch fluid

    Brake pads and calipers cleaned.

    New radiator/coolant change

I always service my own bikes I've owned aprilia rsv s for years:).

All seems straight forward enough but is there anything unusual that I need to look out for? The hidden nosecone bolt for example threw me for a while !

Thanks in advance im working on it this evening and tomorrow hopefully ready for next week.

  2. If it had a Desmo service last year and it’s only been off the road til now then I wouldn’t think it needs anything apart from a check over.

  3. Maybe something for the fuel ( sorry… PETROL) if you didn’t have a stabilizer.

  4. Forgot to add I've already drained and filled with the finest E5
