While we're on (or were...) the subject of language and mispronunciation: politicians, who are supposed to be articulate as most of their job involves talking, but mangle their grammar and use nonsensical words in statements. It doesn't give you much confidence. If you had any to start with, of course. Health Secretary Wes Streeting was on the GBN this morning talking about I know not what. He opened his remarks by passing on his regards to GBN Breakfast News presenter Eammon Holmes who is in hospital after suffering a stroke. He wished Mr Holmes "a fulsome recovery". No, no, no Mr Streeting. You wish him FULL recovery, not a complimentary or flattering one. Nor is the hope of an abundant, generous or ample recovery entirely appropriate either. One wishes him to get better, full stop. Not get better to a large extent. Honestly...
All staff should be trained to respond: "No you can't. I will get it for you". The depressing thing is that most would need such training.
When people flash their lights at you at night because they think you’re on main beam, you flash back at them to show them you were not on main beam and then they flash again.
