What Would Be A Suitable Upgrade

  1. I am loving my ST2 which gives me everything I want apart from its age.

What would be the obvious upgrade from an older ST2 bike in the Ducati range that will still be sympathetic to my age but will still return the joy of ownership and the thrill of looking at it. I'm definitely not looking at a modern Superbike because it would be wasted on me. The more relaxed touring side of things is appealing to me. I want sound and performance but in very usable ways.

  2. What about the Multistrada V2?

  3. All the Multistrada’s are great bikes, I’m on my 4th one now. I think the 1260S DVT was the best V2 I had. Now on a V4S, heavier but great engine, comfortable riding position, good for touring and great when you get to the twisty bits.

  4. I've just started on my multistrada journey and bought a brand new V2 . It's been great so far , a long weekend away it was the perfect tool . Sunday bimble, followed by a blast , all good. I can see the other bikes in the garage getting ridden less and less . I know I'm still in the honeymoon period but it could be the bike to do it all . The only slight negative for me is it's the least attractive bike I've ever owned in 30 years

  5. It has to be a MultiStrada IMO. I’d avoided them for years due to the styling, the ‘Angry Bird’ face and the ‘beak’. Next to a 748/916/996/998/Panigale etc they were just ugly (especially the very first iteration) but the look grows on you and my goodness are they truly a ‘bike for all roads’. I still have an ST2, and a Monster and a 998S but my go to bike is always the MultiStrada V4S I bought 4 years ago. It’s easy to ride, comfortable and on real world roads I’d argue it’s faster A to B than any Sportsbike (if one wants to be bothered by such things).

  6. I have to agree with the above.
I still enjoy my 999 and 1000SS mongrel, but my Multi is everything I really need and my old and beaten body doesn't suffer riding it.

  7. I had an ST4 in the early 2000s my first really large bike, so sad they stopped making the range, I moved to a BMW K1300S and was going to swap for the GT version when that was canned too. I’ve flip flopped between Multistrada and GSs but I think the current Multi Rally is the mutts nuts.

  8. 1200 multis are really affordable now if you wanted to try the concept without commiting too much until you get hooked.

  9. My next bike is going to be a 1260 tbh. I'm wanting to simplify life, and having loads of cars & bikes is just a pain in the arse for servicing and maintenance. Going to try to get back to just 1 or 2 bikes. ;)
