I don't use Google Maps at all as I have found that it uses a lot of battery power on the phone and other apps are as good if not better. MRA is good as is TomTom Go, I have Calimoto on Android (at last) but haven't tried it yet.
I just tested it, the interface and position is all good. I need to work out what I want where but for simple sat nav it was good. MRA wasn’t setup and I need to try that. My concern about the mounting position is still there, it wobbles, not much but enough to be annoying and know it will eventually break. As I have failed to find the correct adapter plate, I think next step is to sketch it up, get it modelled at work then find someone locally to 3d print it. Unless anyone has a better solution?
A small correction to that: - MRA Route Planner does use live traffic info and winter pass closures, but you can simply choose to turn it off which, as you say, is much better if you're planning a route for the future / a different season. You can also choose to turn it off when using the MRA navigator app to navigate live, but YMMV on that one.
