HI Just wanting a bit of advice on the dreaded Slipper clutch. So mine is making a hideous noise when setting off almost like the sound of an elephant struggling to take a dump. It then grabs and kangaroos down the road. I used to be able to get round it by just being extremely gentle when setting off but its now so bad it will stall the bike. The basket is in good order and the plates looked fine last time it was out. I am about to order a full new set of plates but before I do does anyone have any ideas. Once rolling it works fine no slipping other than when it should. I only use the bike for sunny days and the odd trackday. Also sorry for the animal references,
Is it the std slipper? - sounds like a total strip and re-grease of your balls is all you need (sorry, the bike will need). If it's been "dry" for a long period then could be some ramp wear by now (if std slipper).
Yes it has been stood for a while, had to do a full rebuild following bottom end failure although it was starting to do it a bit before that happened. I will get them regreased and give it a go, there is a picture of the pressure plate below. Going to check the height as well.
i think that is where i got to that the steels maybe done. It’s done about 8000 miles now and think the steels maybe original.
