Anyone know where the left side front fork skyhook cable plugs into? I need to remove the forks and wondered how much of the bodywork I need to remove to find the cable connection. Thanks
It's under the left side of the tank, it's possible to lift the rear of the tank to reach the plug but, in my experience it's easier, and quicker to remove the tank. So, beak off along with rad shrouds, tank panels then remove the tank, you can do it in less than an hour.
Yeah it's a bit of a pain compared to most other bikes, everything you need to do seems to involve taking the tank off so it's worth getting the hang of doing it. It gets much quicker after you've done it once. Need new seals or something else?
I'm going to change the fork oil and do the seals this winter on my 2014, so interested how you get on. I'm not looking forward to it...
Do some research on the fork oil, in the manual it mentions 7.5w oil from a certain manufacturer I think. Fork oil weights are a funny thing, each manufacturer measures them differently, you'll see viscosity ranges, at given temps, kinematic viscosity etc etc. it gets confusing. The recommended oil, probably Shell, I can't remember, I could not find anywhere so, using the specs of the original oil I found the nearest available oil which was Rock oil synthesis 3.5W fully synthetic, that worked well. Don't put 7.5w in, it'll be like a jack hammer!
