I had a car loaned me when my car was written off, some of the 'courtesy' car cost were deducted from my payout. From memory it was around 10% of the payout, that was back in the 90's. It wasn't any faster for the payout although they were fairly prompt in replacing the claims company car.
Genuinely gutted for you. How has it taken him so long to have not progressed with this engine rebuild considering how long he's had the engine in his possession? I'd be well fckd off with him for sure.
Its already been a year! From your posts I'm more surprised that you haven't already bought one. If you buy the right bike, at a good price, it will effectively cost a few hundred (or less) whilst you wait for your current bike to be repaired. If the budget is there, why wouldn't you buy one?
Now that's informative. I just told them it was why everyone's insurance was so dear and it didn't seem right to take one at that price (you can hire a car for 12 quid a day). They said it was the industry standard/set rate.
what bike is it your waiting to come back flatty? so you know the pain, its awful, especially now the weather is coming good i am going to my parents next weekend and its in the middle of biker country so the sound of bikes getting ragged will fry my brain
i have looked at other bikes, but to be honest now the only thing i am going to be happy with would have to be a ducati, looked at ac cbr600 and couple of others but sadly due too my addiction to red bikes there's no going back, so over the next few days i am going to talk myself in to getting whatever id replace the 899 with, not getting any younger you only live once, its only money and all that blah blah
he slow and professional and a bit old, he's doing s lovely job, the engine has been stripped and steam cleaned, there was a problem with a fly wheel puller, the some of the o rings didn't turn up and he has his pace, just slow slow he wants it to be perfect, theres a few corners he could have cut, he didn't have to tell me he wanted to replace the con rod bolts, i wouldn't know any better but he insisted as they stretch yesterday i phoned and i say "have you got any good news for me'" expecting him to say it would be ready next week only to hear he hadn't even put the con rods together, it was like crying without tears and thank you for the replies, it bloody helps
A honda F6C. I bought it because it's the nearest looking thing to judge dredds bike I've ever seen. I should grow up, but I love it.
I wouldn't but one to replace the 899 but you'd pick up a decent blackbird for a couple of grand, you can drive the arse out of it as they are bombproof. It's very fast and very comfortable, and sell.it for similar money when the duke is ready.
I love it. It's fast and powerful. It has presence. Wicked comfy too. It's surprisingly light on fuel. Surprisingly cheap to insure. Not easy to manoeuvre/park etc, but nimble once you're moving. If you stop and think, it's ludicrous, but it's ace. It's one of these (black)
I do(did) my daily commute. 16 miles of street/motorway/dual carriageway/a road/country lane. It was great on all. 1.8 litre straight six.
I don't really. I got knocked off last September so I just put it out of my mind. I got a cheque from the insurance company yesterday which I now am supposed to send on to the people who have the bike who are som kind of third party handlers who my insurance company arranged. I don't know what will happen next. I absolutely love my commute.
so still no progress, awaiting parts from Texas in the US of A, at this rate im not seeing it at best til end of june there a good V2 panigale ive seen, and i am soooooo tempted to pull the trigger, i will cause me grief, and paying for it will hurt a lot the other one is now sorned and uninsured in june any one think i should do the deed?
Just as a heads up, your next insurance will ask if you have had insurance on a motorcycle in the last 8 weeks and potentially increase your premium should it have not been the case. Also I read in the TRF magazine that a motorcycle on it's way to a MOT if involved in an incident isn't insured under the contract of insurance.
yes, i wasn't aware of it specifically, but i have kept the insurance premiums going even tho the bike is in bits, the policy will lapse in june kept it going for that reason and a general distrust of insurance companies trying to shaft you, the do ask about continuous riding periods up to present, also means no break in the no claims, so it seems it was £250 well spent
