For contrast, yesterday 3 of us cycled a couple of villages around the mountain, it was a 46km trip. When we got there we had 3 coffees for €3.60 Good coffee too. Mind you it was bloody freezing.
At least they knew what you meant by half, an establishment wouldn't serve a speciality lager due to it's alcohol content. It was served as a schooner, £7:00 and that was in this decade not in your olden days time.
€3 for a beer, €1 euro for a sparkling mineral water, €1 for an espresso or macchiato, €3-4 for a glass of wine - Most places in Italy outside of tourist hotspots. €1.75 for petrol, €2.04 for Diesel. Go to Croatia and knock 1/3rd off those prices. Got to Bosnia and 1/2 them. We really do get overcharged in Northern & Western Europe but it’s a vicious circle of rampant price inflation.
Novotel in Greenwich is £8.40 for a Guinness, £7.70 for Stella. Then they want 10% tip for pouring it! They’ve been told!
