Hi folks. Have a 2018 1260S and was looking for a Brembo Clutch Master Cylinder Repair / Overhaul Kit as my fluid was going darker and darker so wanted to replace it. Just hought I'd post up that I found a genuine Ducati Brembo kit online located on eBay for about £34 from Moto Rapido. I know you can go direct to them but here's the eBay link: https://ebay.us/m/FBnYZX Many thanks. Rich.
Link says out of stock, I’d give Craig a ring on 01962 873981 to see when he’s expecting new stock. If you are desperate, drop Tomas at Addiction Motorsport an email, he’s a forum seller. Andy
Some years ago I’v ordered from Ducati dealer. Part number 61041991A. It was for 1200 Multi, but should be the same for 1260.
I don’t think it will be the master cylinder failing that’s the issue of black fluid. It’s more likely to be one or both of A) the pushrod is spinning with the clutch which generates heat in the slave which discolours the fluid, and/or, B) there’s engine oil leaking past the o-rings on the pushrod which is contaminating the clutch fluid. I think it’s worth checking those things out while you’re at it.
Will do Paul. I'll pop the fairly new Oberon slave and pushrod off, clean it all up, refurb the clutch master cylinder and back fill with 660 fluid. Job for the weekend. I've sourced two genuine master cylinder overhaul kits, one from MotoRapido and one from Addiction Motorsport off eBay (one as a spare). Both arriving tomorrow. Thx. RichB.
I bought a clutch master kit for my 2016 DVT and also bought 2 new O rings for the push rod. I noticed that when I looked at the original clutch the gubbins were made of plastic whereas the new one was metal. I noticed an fair improvement on smoother gear changes after. Already got an oberon slave https://ebay.us/m/jlCKLy
Motul 660 is extremely hygroscopic and darkens rapidly once opened, necessitating annual changes at least rather than the usual recommended 2 yearly changes. I know of no reason why you need to run Motul 660 as the clutch fluid, you may be better off with the regular Motul Dot3/4 fluid at 1/2 the price.
Thanks Paul. That's v interesting. Darkening fluid isn't something I've experienced so far. My reason for using 660 in the clutch is simply that I've just opened a new bottle as have just bled the rear brake with it, which I do annually. Mindful it's a new bottle, I'm happy to use 660 for the clutch otherwise it'll just go off in the bottle !!
