What 8k Track Day Weapon Ducati Only

  1. assume a mate wants a ducati for track duties. either a race prepped 999 putting out 150 horses or a fettled 899? likes the analogue stuff fewer rider aids the better. aint fussed about being the fastest in a straight line but wants max rider engagement

he knows that the older bike will reach a limit quickly but hes a crap rider. isnt bothered about resale or road conversion later down the line. might want to sell it to fund another td bike later down the line

    what would you do?

  3. 999 between the two…

    what would I do?
    2011-2022 ZX10R

  4. You said it, a well fettled 999. You’d get a very tidy track prepped R1 for that dough too…

  5. loving this... keep it coming

  6. 848 Evo ( better brakes than standard 848)

  8. isnt that a bit scary for a non track day warrior that might be somewhere between novice and inters?

  11. I wouldn’t focus on sports bikes, it’s great fun riding a bike you are comfortable on and not being perceived as “competition” by other track day riders. I wish I’d had my 1200 track Multistrada a long time ago :D Andy

  12. I’d second the 848 Evo

Or maybe a 1098 (too much for track for your friend?)?

Thanks… Freudian slip…. ZX6R is what I was thinking…. I’ve had three 636’s…great on the track and super cheap for a used one with track fairings etc. Scary is a great word for the ZX10R

If I was going to make a track only bike out of the two sport bikes we have, I would definitely go with my ‘24 636 over my ‘12 848 Evo. But even better would be to get a much older 636… great bikes and brilliant motor.

  18. I think a leggy 899 is the best you can do for that money, way easier to get on with than a 848 evo I think also

  19. I went for the 959 which should be about in that price bracket now. Its not the 200HP monster and is a great bike, handles really well. I chose that over the 899 as the con-rods on the 899 are known to be a bit weak, so would avoid that model but any other Panigale doesnt seem to have that issue.

If getting an older Panigale, the standard rear shocks are pretty poor, so either need re-valved by MCT or upgraded when you start to push on a bit.

One guy on here (Scott) sold his 959 and went back to the 848 as said he just gets on with it better so for me either 848, or Pani 959 would be the go to
